The Calendar app keeps local calendars and account caches in a Calendars folder under Library, with CalDAV and iCloud accounts syncing through it. On My Mac calendars live only here.
Time Machine restores of this folder resurrect deleted events. Export .ics archives for portable backups instead of raw copies.
