Where Are BeamNG.drive Mods Stored?
BeamNG.drive stores mods and personal files in a user folder under LocalAppData. The install folder under Steam should not be used for mods.
Last updated
BeamNG.drive separates the install folder from the user folder. The user folder holds mods, settings, vehicles, screenshots and level edits. Since version 0.37 the default Windows location is LocalAppData\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive\current with mods in the mods subfolder.
Use the launcher Manage User Folder option to open the active path because custom locations override the default. Keep mods out of the Steam install folder to avoid loss during verification or updates.

Frequently asked questions
Why did my BeamNG user folder move?
Version 0.37 changed the default from LocalAppData BeamNG.drive with versioned subfolders to LocalAppData BeamNG BeamNG.drive current. Older installs may still reference Documents BeamNG.drive from before 0.22. Use Manage User Folder in the launcher to confirm the active folder on your install.
Where should I install manual mods?
Place the ZIP in the mods subfolder of the active user folder, not in the Steam install folder. Steam verification can delete unknown files in the install folder. Enable the mod in game and keep a separate backup because major updates move unknown files to a backup folder.
