Where Does CrossOver Store Bottles?

CrossOver cxoffice directory with bottles and per-app prefixes on Linux.

Last updated

CrossOver keeps each Windows environment as a bottle inside the .cxoffice directory in your home folder, one subfolder per bottle with its own C drive and registry. Installers and downloaded components cache nearby.

Bottles are portable between machines running compatible CrossOver versions. Copy a bottle folder and the app plus its registry travels together.

Where CrossOver stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.cxoffice

Each bottle is a subfolder with drive_c, registry files and metadata. The macOS app keeps bottles under its Application Support tree instead. Copy bottle folders with CrossOver closed. Version mismatches can break restored bottles, so match releases.

Frequently asked questions

Copy its folder from .cxoffice with CrossOver closed. Restore by pasting it back and letting CrossOver re-register the bottle.

Where are CrossOver installers cached?

In the download cache next to the bottles inside the directory above. Clear it to reclaim space without touching installed apps.
