Where Are Dying Light Saves Located?
Dying Light Steam userdata saves under app ID 239140 and the Documents settings folder on PC.
Last updated
The original Dying Light keeps campaign saves in the Steam userdata tree under app ID 239140, not in Documents where sequels-era players look first. Each profile gets save_coop files inside the out\save path.
Documents holds settings rather than progress. Back up the userdata folder for the campaign and Documents for the config.
Where Dying Light stores this, by platform
<SteamLibrary>\userdata\<SteamID>\239140\remote\out\save
Slot files are save_coop_0.sav style saves. Replace <SteamLibrary> with your Steam path and <SteamID> with your numeric ID folder. Settings live separately at %USERPROFILE%\Documents\DyingLight\out\settings. Copy the save folder with the game closed and Steam Cloud allowed to settle.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up Dying Light saves?
Copy the 239140 remote folder from Steam userdata with the game closed. Paste it back into the same Steam ID path to restore.
Why are my Dying Light Documents saves empty?
That folder holds settings, not progress. Real saves live in the userdata path above, which is why Documents-only backups restore nothing.
