Where Are Elite Dangerous Journals and Settings Stored?
Elite Dangerous Saved Games folder with player journals, bindings and visited stars cache on PC.
Last updated
Elite Dangerous keeps your commander server-side but writes a rich local trail: player journals logging every jump, dock and scan, plus keybinds and graphics config. Third-party tools like EDDiscovery and EDDI read the journals live.
The folder also holds the visited stars cache and screenshots. Back it up and a reinstall keeps bindings, history and tools working.
Where Elite Dangerous stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous
Journal files are timestamped .log files in the root, bindings under Bindings as .binds files, graphics config as GraphicsConfiguration.xml. Paste the path into File Explorer to jump there. Copy the folder with the game closed to preserve bindings and journal history.
