Where Does Everything Store Its Index and Settings?

Everything Everything.ini and database on Windows for installed versus portable modes.

Last updated

Everything keeps its index database and Everything.ini either in AppData or next to the executable. The service install adds a system-side database copy.

Portable mode moves as one folder. Installed mode splits user settings from the service database.

Where Everything stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Everything

Holds Everything.ini and the user database for installed builds. Portable builds keep the same files next to the exe. Close Everything before copying.
