Where Does Cisco Jabber Store Chat History?

Cisco Jabber chat history and config folders on Windows for troubleshooting and migration.

Last updated

Jabber keeps client state under a Cisco folder in AppData: chat history, config and logs in versioned subfolders. Server policies control how much history exists to store.

Local files are only half the story. Retention and persistent chat are server decisions, so missing history is usually policy, not a lost file.

Where Cisco Jabber stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF

Contains History, Config and Logs subfolders. Exact inner naming shifts between Jabber 12, 14 and 15 builds. Copy with Jabber fully exited.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Jabber history to a new computer?

Copy the CSF folder to the same location on the new machine with Jabber closed. Server-side history (where enabled) resyncs on login; local files cover the rest.

Why is older chat history missing?

Check the History folder and the Jabber config for the logging level. Persistent chat features depend on server settings; local files only record what the client was told to keep.
