Where Are DaVinci Resolve Projects Stored?
DaVinci Resolve Disk Database location on Windows and Mac, and how to move or back it up properly.
Last updated
Resolve projects live inside a Disk Database, not as loose project files you can copy by hand. The default database sits buried in Blackmagic folders under your user profile.
Do not move it in Explorer. Add a new Project Library from inside Resolve, or use the library info button to open and back up the location safely.
Where DaVinci Resolve stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database
Default local database since Resolve 16. In the Project Manager, open the library info panel and choose Open File Location to jump there.
~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Resolve Disk Database
Same role as Windows. Use the in app Backup action on the library rather than zipping the folder by hand.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move my Resolve database to another drive?
In the Project Libraries shelf, add a new Project Library at the new location, then copy projects over. Keep the old one until the move checks out.
What is the safest Resolve backup?
Both: a library backup from the info panel for disaster recovery, plus per project .drp exports for anything you are actively cutting.
