Where Does FamiStudio Store Settings and Projects?
FamiStudio AppData folder with settings plus .fms project files on Windows.
Last updated
FamiStudio keeps app settings, recent files and audio engine choices in its AppData folder, while songs are .fms project files in your own folders. Exported NSF and ROM files land wherever you render them.
DPCM samples referenced by songs resolve by path, so moved sample packs break projects. Back up settings plus songs plus samples together.
Where FamiStudio stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\FamiStudio
Holds settings and recent-file lists. Folder naming may vary by release, so verify on your install. Song .fms files and DPCM samples live in your own project folders elsewhere. Copy settings with the app closed.
Frequently asked questions
Where are FamiStudio project files?
Wherever you saved them as .fms documents. The AppData folder above holds only settings, never songs.
Why did my FamiStudio samples go missing?
DPCM paths in the project no longer resolve after moving folders. Restore the sample layout or relink each sample.
