Where Does Furnace Tracker Store Config?

Furnace tracker config file on Linux with audio, MIDI and layout settings.

Last updated

Furnace keeps audio engine, MIDI, layout and recent-file settings in a config file under its XDG directory, while songs are .fur modules in your own folders. Instruments and wavetables travel inside each song.

Deleting the config resets the tracker without touching a single composition. Copy the file and the whole tracking environment moves machines.

Where Furnace stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/furnace/furnace.conf

Main settings file with audio, MIDI and UI state. Song .fur files live in your own project folders elsewhere. Copy the config with Furnace closed to migrate preferences.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reset Furnace settings?

Close Furnace and delete furnace.conf from the path above. Songs stay untouched wherever you saved them.

Where are Furnace songs?

Wherever you saved them as .fur files. The config folder holds only settings, never compositions.
