Where Does OpenMPT Store Settings?
OpenMPT AppData folder with mptrack.ini, plugins cache and keybinds on Windows.
Last updated
OpenMPT keeps its settings in mptrack.ini inside an OpenMPT AppData folder, with plugin cache and keyboard shortcuts alongside. Module files themselves are .mod, .xm, .it and .mptm documents in your own folders.
Portable installs keep the INI next to the executable instead. Copy the right one and the whole tracking environment, VST paths included, moves machines.
Where OpenMPT stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\OpenMPT
Holds mptrack.ini with settings, keybinds and plugin paths. Portable builds use mptrack.ini beside the exe, so check there if AppData is empty. Copy the INI with OpenMPT closed.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up OpenMPT settings?
Copy mptrack.ini from the folder above, or from beside the exe for portable installs. Module files travel separately from your sample library.
Where are OpenMPT example songs?
In the install folder's example tree or your own song directory. The AppData folder holds only settings, never songs.
