Where Is the Renoise Config Folder?

Renoise preferences, keybinds and scripts folder per OS.

Last updated

Renoise stores preferences, key mappings, themes and tool scripts in a versioned folder per OS, separate from songs and samples. Migrating studios means copying one numbered folder.

Version upgrades create fresh numbered folders instead of reusing old ones. Copy keybinds forward manually or relearn your tracker shortcuts.

Where Renoise stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Renoise

Versioned subfolders like V3.4.x hold Config.xml, KeyBindings.xml and Scripts. Copy the version folder with Renoise closed. Songs and samples live wherever you saved them.

macOS
~/Library/Preferences/Renoise

macOS equivalent with versioned preference folders. Open through Finder Go to Folder. Same migration rules as Windows.

Linux
~/.config/Renoise

Linux config tree with versioned subfolders. Scripts and themes travel with the folder copy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Renoise settings?

Copy the versioned folder inside the path above. Keybinds, themes and tool scripts all travel together.

Why did Renoise forget settings after updating?

New versions create fresh numbered folders. Copy Config.xml and KeyBindings.xml forward from the old version folder.
