Where Is the Windows Timeline Database Stored?

Timeline activity lives in ActivitiesCache.db under ConnectedDevicesPlatform, per device folder, and deleting it clears history.

Last updated

Windows Timeline recorded opened files, apps and web pages into a SQLite database called ActivitiesCache.db. Each device folder under ConnectedDevicesPlatform holds its own copy.

Microsoft wound Timeline down, but the database lingers on many machines. Deleting it clears the stored history. Privacy minded users should also disable activity history sync so it stops refilling.

Where Windows stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ConnectedDevicesPlatform

One subfolder per device identity with ActivitiesCache.db inside. Delete the database files with signed out or disabled activity history to keep them cleared.

Frequently asked questions

how do i clear windows timeline history

Turn off activity history in Settings, then delete ActivitiesCache.db from each ConnectedDevicesPlatform subfolder. New entries stop once sync stays disabled.

can i read activitiescache.db myself

Yes, it is SQLite. Open a copy, never the live file, in any SQLite browser. Tables inside list activities with timestamps and app names.
