Where Does Adobe XD Store Plugins?
XD loads plugins from develop and plugins folders buried in its Application Support data on Mac and in a UWP package on Windows.
Last updated
XD keeps plugins in two sibling folders: develop for things you are building, and plugins for things you installed. The Mac path is short and readable. The Windows path runs through a UWP package folder with a name like Adobe.CC.XD_adky2gkssdxte, which nobody would guess without being told.
You rarely need to type either path. Plugins, then Development, then Show Develop Folder opens the right place on both systems. Reach for the literal folder only when installs fail silently or you need to clear out a broken plugin by hand.
Where Adobe XD stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe XD
Contains develop and plugins subfolders. Open it from inside XD via Plugins > Development > Show Develop Folder. Installed plugins live in plugins. XD manages that folder itself, so put development work in develop and reload from the Plugins menu.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Adobe.CC.XD_adky2gkssdxte\LocalState
Same develop and plugins layout as Mac, hidden inside XD's UWP package data. The package suffix can differ between installs, so prefer Show Develop Folder from the Plugins menu. Create a plugins folder here manually if an installer complains it is missing.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put a plugin I am developing?
In the develop folder, never in plugins. Then choose Plugins, Development, Reload Plugins to load it. The plugins folder is XD's own territory for installed copies, and files you drop there by hand may be overwritten or ignored.
An XD plugin failed to install. What now?
Check that the plugins folder exists next to develop in the LocalState (Windows) or Adobe XD (Mac) folder, and create it if it is missing. Then run the .xdx installer again. Missing folders are the most common cause of silent install failures.
