Where Does Arc Store Your Profile?

Arc profile, Spaces and sidebar data on Mac and Windows, and the page that reveals the live path.

Last updated

Arc is Chromium under the skin, so history, cookies and logins live in a User Data tree: ~/Library/Application Support/Arc/User Data on Mac, a Packages LocalCache path on Windows. Extra Arc Profiles sit alongside Default as Profile 1, Profile 2.

Spaces, pinned tabs and folders are the Arc specific part, stored in StorableSidebar.json next to User Data. Back that file up with the profile or a restore loses your sidebar layout. The live path is always one click away at arc://version under Profile Path. There is no Linux build; guides claiming ~/.config/Arc are wrong.

Where Arc stores this, by platform

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Arc/User Data/Default/

Chromium profile (History, Cookies, Login Data, Preferences). Spaces and sidebar in ~/Library/Application Support/Arc/StorableSidebar.json. Confirm via arc://version Profile Path.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TheBrowserCompany.Arc_\LocalCache\Local\Arc\User Data\Default\

Store (MSIX) install under Packages LocalCache, not plain Local; the middle package hash varies, so glob TheBrowserCompany.Arc_*. Sidebar state in ...\Arc\StorableSidebar.json. No Linux build exists.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my Arc Spaces and sidebar?

Copy StorableSidebar.json plus the User Data profile folder. The profile alone restores logins and history but not Spaces, pinned tabs or folders.

Can I import Arc data into Chrome?

The community workaround is copying Arc User Data contents into a Chrome profile folder. Passwords may need reentry since encryption keys differ, but history and bookmarks transfer.
