Where Does Authenticator Pro Store Backups?
Authenticator Pro exports encrypted backups to a file you choose, with optional automatic backups beside it.
Last updated
Authenticator Pro keeps your tokens in its private app storage and gets them out through backup files you control. Manual export writes an encrypted file to whichever folder you pick, and automatic backup keeps fresh copies in the same place on a schedule.
The encryption password is the whole game. Lose it and the backup is a brick, since nothing leaves the device unprotected by design. Before wiping or switching phones, verify the newest backup opens with your password on another device, not just that the file exists.

Pick the location at export time and reuse it for automatic backups. Keep a copy off the phone. Uninstalling wipes the private token store, so the backup file is the only thing that survives.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Authenticator Pro to a new phone?
Export an encrypted backup on the old phone and copy the file over, or let automatic backup do it on schedule. Import with the same password on the new install. Test one code before wiping the old device.
I forgot my backup password. Can I recover?
No. The file is encrypted with it and there is no reset path by design. Your fallback is the original tokens: transfer each account inside the still working app, or use the service recovery codes. Then set a password you store in a password manager.
