Where Does Baserow Store Data and Uploads?

Baserow persistent data folder for all-in-one Docker, plus the media subfolder that Nginx serves directly.

Last updated

Baserow keeps all persistent state under /baserow/data in the all-in-one Docker image. Postgres, Redis, uploaded files, and Caddy certificates all live in there. Mount a volume like -v baserow_data:/baserow/data or the data dies with the container.

Split installs separate the pieces. Backend workers share a media volume for uploads, and each service keeps its own database. The DATA_DIR variable can move the data root, and any .sh file in /baserow/data/env gets sourced at startup. Check that folder when settings seem to come from nowhere.

Where Baserow stores this, by platform

Linux
/baserow/data

Single persistence root for the all-in-one image. Stop the container before tarring it for backup. The folder includes the internal Postgres, media, and Caddy state.

Linux
/baserow/data/media

User uploaded files and thumbnails. On split installs this is a shared media volume across backend workers. Make subfolders readable by Nginx if it serves files directly.

Frequently asked questions

how do i back up a Baserow Docker install

Stop the container, then run an alpine container with -v baserow_data:/baserow/data and tar /baserow/data to a host folder. Keep that tarball off the server. Without the volume mount, deleting the container deletes everything.

where are Baserow uploaded files on disk

User uploads sit under /baserow/data/media in the all-in-one image. Split installs mount a media volume at /baserow/media on backend workers instead. Point Nginx at that folder for direct serving.
