Where Does BookLore Store Books and Its Database?

Which Docker volumes hold the BookLore library, database and config, and where to find them on host.

Last updated

BookLore is a self-hosted Java library that stores nothing fixed on the host. Your compose file maps host folders into the container for the book library and for application data holding the database, thumbnails and settings. The host side is whatever you typed during setup.

Read the volumes section first. A common layout keeps a books folder for EPUBs and PDFs plus a data folder for the database beside the compose file. Back up both with the stack stopped, since the database dislikes live copies while imports run.

Where BookLore stores this, by platform

Linux
/opt/booklore/data

Host folders mapped in compose to the container books and data paths. Common parent is user chosen, often under opt or srv. Stop the stack before copying the database.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up BookLore properly?

Stop the stack and copy the host folders mapped to books and data plus your compose file. Books without the database lose shelves and progress; the database without books points at missing files. Both halves matter.

My BookLore paths differ from examples. Which is right?

Open your docker-compose.yml and read the volumes lines. Those host paths are the real locations on your machine. Container paths stay constant while host paths vary per install, so the file wins over guides.
