Where Does ColorNote Store Notes and Backups on Android?
ColorNote notes in private storage on Android plus SD card backups you can actually copy.
Last updated
ColorNote keeps live notes in private app storage you cannot browse without root. Usable backups go to the SD card or shared storage as dated files when you tap Backup.
Online sync adds a Cloud copy when logged in. Moving phones means restoring either the SD backup or Cloud login. Copy the backup folder before factory resets.
Where ColorNote stores this, by platform
/sdcard/data/colornote/backups/
Auto and manual backups land here as dated files (also /storage/emulated/0/data/colornote/ on many phones). Live notes sit in /data/data/com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note/ (root only). Use Settings > Backup in the app.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up ColorNote before reset?
Open ColorNote, go to Settings > Backup, tap Back Up Notes, then copy /sdcard/data/colornote/backups to a PC or Drive. Restoring means putting that folder back, then Settings > Backup > Restore.
Can I read ColorNote notes from a PC?
Only through backup files or Cloud sync, not by browsing app storage. Private data needs root. The SD backup plus Cloud login covers most moves.
