Where Does CoverMe Store Chats and Vault?
CoverMe keeps its private number and vault in the account with encrypted messages in app storage.
Last updated
CoverMe runs on an account holding your private number, encrypted chats, and vault files. The phone keeps working copies and cache in app-private storage.
The account is the archive. Reinstalling and logging back in restores numbers, threads, and vault contents from the server side. Anything captured only on the old phone, like unsent drafts, needs no rescue because the design never promised one.
Where CoverMe stores this, by platform
Account cloud (number, chats, vault); app cache locally
Number, chats, and vault sync from the account. The phone holds working copies and cache; log back in after reinstalling to restore everything.
Account cloud (number, chats, vault); app cache locally
Same account-first design. Vault files download on demand, so reinstalls cost nothing but the re-download wait.
Frequently asked questions
Do I lose my private number if I reinstall?
Private numbers, contacts, and vault contents return on login. Only unsynced local copies lag behind, so let the app finish syncing before wiping.
