Where Does Crosshair X Store Settings?

Crosshair X keeps your saved crosshairs and preferences in a Crosshair X folder in Roaming AppData, with no cloud sync behind it.

Last updated

Crosshair X, the Steam overlay from CenterPoint Gaming, replaced memorized crosshair settings for a lot of FPS players: reticles are drawn on a transparent overlay, so they work in games that never had custom crosshairs. Your collection of saved crosshairs and the app's preferences live in one place, a Crosshair X folder in Roaming AppData.

CenterPoint's support pages are blunt about the stakes: remove that folder and your saved crosshairs are gone. There is no cloud sync to fall back on, so the folder is the backup, and copying it is the only way your crosshair setup moves to a new PC.

Where Crosshair X stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Crosshair X

The app's user data: saved crosshairs and settings. Roaming AppData is hidden, so paste the path into the Run dialog to reach it. CenterPoint's support page notes that deleting the folder wipes saved crosshairs, so copy it before cleaning AppData or reinstalling Windows.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Crosshair X save custom crosshairs?

In %APPDATA%\Crosshair X, inside your Windows user profile. Every crosshair you build and save in the app is stored there, along with your preferences for how the overlay behaves.

Can I transfer Crosshair X crosshairs to another computer?

Copy the Crosshair X folder from %APPDATA% on the old machine into the same location on the new one, with the app closed. There is no sign-in or sync, so the folder is the entire transfer.

What happens if I delete the Crosshair X folder?

Your saved crosshairs are gone and the app starts from defaults, which is what CenterPoint's support page warns about. Back the folder up first if you have crosshairs worth keeping.
