Where Does Daemon Tools Store Settings and Images?

Daemon Tools Lite settings folder on Windows and where mounted disc images and catalog files live on disk.

Last updated

Daemon Tools keeps settings apart from images. Settings live in %APPDATA%\DAEMON Tools Lite with the image catalog and license state. Disc images stay wherever you saved them, often Documents or Downloads. The catalog only points at them.

Virtual drives are driver mounts, not folders, so there is no drive folder to back up. Copy the settings folder with the ISO files for a move. Unmount first so the catalog writes a clean state. Reinstall the SPTD driver when drives vanish after migration. Dead catalog entries point at moved ISOs.

Where Daemon Tools stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\DAEMON Tools Lite

Catalog and license state for Lite installs. Pro and Ultra use parallel folders with the same parent. Copy with the app closed for migration.

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\DAEMON Tools Images

Common home for user saved ISO files. The catalog references these by full path. Moving files without updating the catalog leaves dead entries.

Frequently asked questions

where are my Daemon Tools images listed

Open Preferences to see image catalog paths. The catalog file in AppData tracks where each ISO lives. Images themselves stay where you saved them. Moving an ISO breaks its catalog entry.

can i move Daemon Tools settings to a new PC

Yes. Unmount images first, then copy the settings folder with the PC off. Virtual drive letters reassign on the new machine. Images travel as plain ISO files beside the settings.
