Where Does DataGrip Store Connections?

DataGrip IDE settings and per project data source folders on every OS for JetBrains SQL database work.

Last updated

DataGrip splits settings between IDE config and project folders. Connections live in the JetBrains config root under DataGrip with versioned folders. Projects keep .idea folders with dataSources.xml for local overrides.

Drivers download into a jdbc-drivers folder beside the config. Those refetch on demand. Back up the IDE config with project .idea folders. Passwords need separate export since they stay in system storage. Consoles save per data source history. Dumps restore through the built in database tools panel.

Where DataGrip stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\JetBrains\DataGrip2025.1

Global data sources, drivers, and UI state for the release version. Roaming profiles sync this on Windows domains. Copy with IDE closed.

Linux
~/.config/JetBrains/DataGrip2025.1

Same versioned layout as Windows. Linux uses ~/.config/JetBrains, macOS uses ~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains. Keep versions matched.
