Where Does Decibels Store Settings on Linux?

Where GNOME Decibels keeps recent files and playback options on Linux for reset and backup.

Last updated

Decibels keeps almost everything in dconf: recent files, playback speed memory and window state under its app branch. Audio files themselves stay wherever you opened them from, usually Music.

There is barely a file to copy, which is normal for small GNOME apps. Dump the dconf branch for migration; load it back with the app closed. Clearing recents never touches the audio library, so reset freely when the view clutters.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Decibels settings?

Copy the dconf branch with dconf dump before resetting. Recents and options travel in settings. Restoring means loading the file back with the app closed.

How do I reset Decibels to defaults?

Quit Decibels and reset its dconf branch, then relaunch. Audio files stay where they are; only recents and options clear. The app recreates defaults on next start.
