Where Does Diodon Store Clipboard History?
Diodon stores clipboard history in the Zeitgeist database, not its own files. Preferences live in dconf under its schema.
Last updated
Diodon keeps no history file of its own. Every copied item goes through Zeitgeist, which persists events in a SQLite database under the user data home. That database grows large on busy systems, which is a known complaint.
App preferences are separate and small. They live in dconf under the Diodon schema, covering indicator behavior and sync of primary versus clipboard selections. The man page itself documents almost no files, since Zeitgeist owns the data. Indicator and sync toggles are the only settings worth migrating.
Where Diodon stores this, by platform
/home/<username>/.local/share/zeitgeist/activity.sqlite
Zeitgeist event database holding clipboard history. Delete with Diodon quit to wipe history. Grows into hundreds of MB on some systems.
dconf database: /net/launchpad/diodon
Diodon preferences in dconf. Inspect with dconf-editor or dump the schema path from the terminal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clear Diodon clipboard history?
Clear the Zeitgeist database or set ZEITGEIST_DATABASE_PATH to memory in pam_environment. Diodon reads history from Zeitgeist, so that is where clips persist.
Diodon remembers nothing after reboot. Why?
Install Zeitgeist first. Diodon depends on it for infinite history. Without it the manager still runs but nothing persists across reboots.
