Where Does doubleTwist Store Music and Playlists?
doubleTwist Sync library database on Windows and the Music folder on Android.
Last updated
doubleTwist splits the job across two machines. The Windows Sync app scans iTunes (via its XML library share), Windows Media Player and a chosen Music folder into a library database, then pushes selections to the phone over USB or AirSync Wi-Fi. The phone keeps the audio in its Music folder.
Playlists sync both directions: edits on the device flow back into the desktop library on the next sync. The desktop database is disposable and rebuildable from the same sources, which is exactly what the reset option does when imports go stale.
Where doubleTwist stores this, by platform
Music folder plus iTunes Library.xml (library database rebuilt by Reset)
Sync app reads iTunes XML (enable Share iTunes Library XML in iTunes 12.2+), WMP and the save folder. Use Reset library database in the app when scans go stale. Synced files land in the device Music folder.
Music folder on device storage (synced copies)
Player reads the synced Music folder; ratings, play counts and playlist edits push back to the PC. AirSync needs both on the same network segment. SD card imports are restricted on modern Android.
Frequently asked questions
doubleTwist does not see my iTunes playlists, how do I fix it
Enable Share iTunes Library XML in iTunes settings, quit doubleTwist Sync, reset its library database, and relaunch so it reimports the fresh XML. Multiple stale XML copies on disk confuse the importer.
where do doubleTwist synced songs go on Android
Into the device Music folder over USB MTP or AirSync Wi-Fi. The desktop chooses what syncs per playlist, album, artist or genre. Files already on the phone outside that folder are untouched.
