Where Does EBookDroid Store Books and Fonts?

EBookDroid Android document folders, per book settings and font directories.

Last updated

EBookDroid opens documents where they sit: DjVu, PDF, XPS, fb2, EPUB, comics and more, straight from device storage. Per book layout (split pages, margin crops, zoom to column) is remembered for next time, which is why the same file feels tuned after a few sessions.

Fonts are the one folder worth knowing. EBookDroid checks the document folder first, then a configurable list of directories (/sdcard/fonts by default) for external font mapping in PDFs. Annotations (highlights, freehand, text selection) attach to the book inside app data, so back those up separately.

Where EBookDroid stores this, by platform

Android
Device storage (books in place) plus /sdcard/fonts

Books stay in your folders; settings persist per document in app data. Drop replacement fonts into /sdcard/fonts or alongside the PDF for family name matching, falling back to NimbusL otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

where are EBookDroid annotations saved

With the app data linked to each document, not inside the PDF itself. Copying the PDF alone moves no highlights. Back up the app (root or device backup) before wiping, or flatten important markups another way.

how do custom fonts work in EBookDroid

Place the .ttf files in the same folder as the document or in /sdcard/fonts. Matching family names substitute automatically in PDFs. Missing families fall back to built in NimbusL without an error.
