Where Does Stream Deck Store Profiles and Plugins?

Where Stream Deck keeps profiles, plugins and device settings on desktop.

Last updated

Stream Deck keeps its brains in the Elgato app data folder: Profiles for pages and buttons, Plugins for installed actions, plus device state. The app edits all of it, and the files update as you drag things around.

Backups mean those two folders. Exporting single profiles from inside the app is tidier for sharing, while whole folder copies are faster for full machine moves. Keep plugin installers too, since store versions drift.

Where Elgato Stream Deck stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Elgato\StreamDeck\

Holds Profiles, Plugins and device state. Copy Profiles plus Plugins for full migrations with the app closed. Custom icons using absolute paths need repointing after a username change.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Elgato Stream Deck/

Same Profiles and Plugins layout under Application Support. Reach it with Go to Folder in Finder. Reauthorize Elgato account and store plugins after copying from another Mac.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Stream Deck to a new PC?

Copy the Profiles and Plugins folders to the same app data path on the new machine with the app closed. Reauthorize store plugins and streaming accounts after, since tokens rarely survive the move.

My buttons show missing icons after migrating. Why?

Check the Devices subfolder and replug the hardware. Custom icons referenced by absolute path break first after a username change, so repoint those images before rebuilding whole pages.
