Where Is the Equalizer APO Config File?
Equalizer APO applies whatever its config.txt says on every boot, with includes pulling in per device and Peace GUI files.
Last updated
Equalizer APO is a text file with a driver attached. Config.txt in the install's config folder defines preamp, filters, and includes, reloaded live on every save. There is no settings UI to lose.
Peace, the popular GUI, layers on top rather than replacing anything. It writes preset files into the same config directory and references them from config.txt. Backing up the config folder therefore captures both the raw APO setup and every Peace preset at once.
Where Equalizer APO stores this, by platform
C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config\config.txt
config.txt is the live config with Include lines for the rest. Peace GUI presets and its automatic Documents backups all root from this folder.
Frequently asked questions
My EQ stopped working after a Windows update. Why?
Reinstall Equalizer APO and tick the device again in the Configurator. Windows feature updates frequently drop the APO registration while leaving config.txt perfectly intact. The file is innocent; the binding is the suspect.
Where does the Peace GUI keep its presets?
Yes. Peace writes its presets into the same config folder and backs them up to Documents automatically. Keep Peace.exe inside the Equalizer APO config folder or it complains about a missing config.txt.
