Where Does Escape from Tarkov Store Settings?

Where Escape from Tarkov keeps local Settings INI files, and why your stash is never among them.

Last updated

Escape from Tarkov stores local settings as INI files in %APPDATA%\Battlestate Games\Escape from Tarkov\Settings: Controls.ini for binds, Game.ini and Graphics.ini for the rest. Copying that folder migrates sensitivity, keys and video options in one move.

Everything that matters competitively lives server side: stash, skills, quests and traders attach to your account, not your disk. Old guides pointing at Documents or Shared.ini describe builds from years ago; the AppData path is current.

%APPDATA%\Battlestate Games\Escape from Tarkov\Settings

Paste %APPDATA%\Battlestate Games\Escape from Tarkov\Settings into Explorer. Back up the whole folder with the launcher closed. Progress and stash are server side and never appear here.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move my Tarkov settings to a new PC?

Copy the Settings folder with the game closed. Paste it back on the new machine before first launch (or after one launch so the folder exists). Progress, stash and traders are server side and restore themselves on login.

My hand edited sensitivity keeps resetting. Why?

The game rewrites out of range values on launch, clamping them to menu minimums. Ultra high DPI mice hit this wall first. There is no supported override: the file round trips through the game validation, so below minimum values never survive a start.
