Where Are Eternal Strands Save Files Located?
Eternal Strands save and config folders on Windows and Linux, plus how Steam Cloud and Game Pass versions differ.
Last updated
Eternal Strands follows the standard Unreal layout on PC. Saves sit under EternalStrands Saved SaveGames in LocalAppData, one numeric subfolder per user, with files named per slot. Config lives beside it under Saved Config Windows.
Steam Cloud covers the Steam copy. The Game Pass copy uses a different obfuscated store, which makes cross store moves fiddly. On Linux through Proton the same Windows tree appears under compatdata for app 1491410.
Where Eternal Strands stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\EternalStrands\Saved\SaveGames
Slot files named EternalStrands_Save_Slot_X live in a numeric user subfolder. Copy the whole Saved tree with the game closed. Config beside it holds graphics and input choices.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1491410/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/EternalStrands/Saved/SaveGames
Same Windows relative layout under Proton. Steam Cloud data can also appear under userdata for app 1491410. Treat backslashes as forward slashes here.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move an Eternal Strands save from Steam to Game Pass?
Steam keeps saves under Saved SaveGames with a numeric user folder, and Steam Cloud syncs them. Game Pass uses an obfuscated wgs tree under Packages, so manual moves need renaming and often fail. Keep to the same store when you can.
How do I back up Eternal Strands saves?
Close the game and copy the whole EternalStrands Saved folder elsewhere with a date in the name. Restoring means dropping it back before launch, then letting the game overwrite timestamps on load.
