Where Is Exoprimal Save Data Stored?

Exoprimal progress is server-side and Steam Cloud only, with settings kept locally and excluded from backups.

Last updated

Exoprimal is online only, so your suits, levels, and story progress live on Capcom's servers and sync through your CAPCOM ID. There is no local progress file worth hunting for on the Steam version.

Capcom's own backup guidance says it plainly. Steam Cloud users get their saved data backed up, everyone else gets nothing, and locally stored settings are excluded either way. Treat settings screenshots as your real backup for keybinds and graphics.

Where Exoprimal stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[SteamID]\1286320\remote

Story and player progress back up through Steam Cloud only (AppID 1286320). Capcom states local settings data is excluded from that backup, so reapply keybinds and graphics by hand after reinstalling.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1286320/pfx/

Proton prefix for the Windows build (AppID 1286320). Progress still comes from Capcom's servers, so this folder matters far less than it does for offline games.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my Exoprimal progress?

Turn on Steam Cloud and Capcom's wording covers it: progress backs up through the cloud, and local-only players get no backup at all.

If I reinstall, do I lose my suits and levels?

Correct. Wallets, loadouts, and unlocks follow the account across machines. Only control and graphics settings need redoing on a fresh install.
