Fable 3 stores saves as Hero files inside %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Lionhead Studios\Fable 3\<profile-id>, bound to the Games for Windows Live identity. No Live sign-in, no visible saves: the folder must match the active profile or the game starts blind.
The offline xlive workaround rewrites that binding by hand, matching the ini xuid to the folder name. Copy the profile folder whole before reinstalls; heroes, autosaves and world state travel as one unit. Steam Cloud never covered this title, so disk copies are everything.
