Where Does FastGPT Store Config and Data?
FastGPT Docker deploy folder, config files and database volumes on Linux.
Last updated
FastGPT deploys from a folder you create with the install script, not a system path. Running the documented curl script pulls docker compose files and config templates into the working directory, then docker compose up starts web, API, MongoDB, Postgres and vector stores together on port 3000.
Knowledge bases, flows, keys and chat logs live in those databases (Docker volumes beside the compose file), while behavior comes from the config files and .env in the deploy folder. Back up the whole folder plus volume data. The default root account (root with a documented starter password) must be changed before exposing the port.
Where FastGPT stores this, by platform
./config.json and docker-compose files in your deploy folder
Created by the install script in whichever directory you ran it. Holds compose definitions, service configs and .env secrets. Database contents persist in Docker volumes; inspect them with docker volume ls and back both up together.
Frequently asked questions
where are FastGPT knowledge bases stored
In the MongoDB and Postgres volumes of the compose stack plus the vector store, not as files you can copy. Migrate with database dumps from those containers. The deploy folder configs only describe connections and limits.
how do I move FastGPT to a new server
Copy the deploy folder (compose, configs, .env) and migrate the database volumes with dumps. Recreate secrets and model keys in .env on the new host, then bring the stack up and change the root password immediately.
