Where Does FiveM Store App Data and Server Cache?

FiveM app folder on Windows, where citizen config, client cache and per server data actually live.

Last updated

FiveM installs per user under LocalAppData, not Program Files. The FiveM.app folder holds the client, citizen config and the data subfolder where downloaded server assets land.

Clearing cache means deleting the cache inside data, not the whole install. Server favorites and key bindings live nearby. Reinstalling GTA V never touches FiveM data, and reinstalling FiveM never touches GTA V.

Where FiveM stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FiveM\FiveM.app\

Client lives here. Server cache is in data\server-cache and data\cache. CitizenFX.ini and caches.xml sit at this level. Delete the cache subfolders to fix stuck downloads; keep a copy of CitizenFX.ini first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I clear FiveM cache safely?

Close FiveM, open %LOCALAPPDATA%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data, and delete the cache and server-cache folders. Leave CitizenFX.ini alone. The client rebuilds cache on next join, which takes longer once.

Does uninstalling FiveM delete my GTA V install?

No. FiveM only removes its own LocalAppData folder. GTA V stays wherever Steam, Epic or Rockstar put it. Back up FiveM.app if you use custom binds before wiping.
