Where Does Flowblade Store Projects and Data?

Flowblade keeps prefs in ~/.flowblade or XDG config, with per-project data in Data Stores. Linux paths and moving projects.

Last updated

Flowblade splits preferences from project payloads. Settings live in ~/.flowblade by default, or under XDG config with the -xdg flag. Heavy generated data (proxies, thumbnails, container renders) goes to per-project folders inside Data Stores, defaulting to $XDG_DATA_HOME/projectsdata.

That split is the whole backup story. Copy the project file plus its Project Data Folder to move machines; the prefs folder only matters for your personal setup. Deleting a single project's data folder reclaims space without touching anything else. Startup crashes that survive reinstalls usually yield to removing ~/.config/flowblade.

Where Flowblade stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.flowblade

Legacy prefs location, used unless -xdg is set. XDG mode splits into ~/.config/flowblade, ~/.local/share/flowblade and ~/.cache/flowblade. Data Stores default to $XDG_DATA_HOME/projectsdata.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move a Flowblade project to another computer?

Copy the project file together with its Project Data Folder from the active Data Store. Open it on the new machine with media reachable at matching paths. New projects can pick a fresh Data Store in File > New.

Flowblade crashes on startup, what do I delete?

Remove ~/.config/flowblade (XDG mode) or ~/.flowblade (legacy) after backing it up. Corrupt configs are a known startup killer and regenerating them fixes most cases. Keep project files and Data Stores; they are separate.
