Where Are FNAF: Secret of the Mimic Save Files Located?
Secret of the Mimic save folder on PC, hidden under a cryptic Unreal Engine project name.
Last updated
Secret of the Mimic is an Unreal Engine game, and its saves sit in the engine's standard Saved directory. The catch is the folder name. It uses the internal project code FNAF_SOTM instead of anything containing "Mimic", so searching the drive for the game's title turns up nothing.
Each save slot is a .sav file in SaveGames. There is no in game export button, and the PlayStation 5 version keeps its saves inside console storage with no file access. On PC, a plain file copy is the entire backup strategy.
Where Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FNAF_SOTM\Saved\SaveGames
Paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\FNAF_SOTM\Saved\SaveGames into the Explorer address bar. SOTM stands for Secret of the Mimic. Config files sit next to saves in Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up my secret of the mimic progress
Copy the .sav files out of the SaveGames folder with the game closed. To restore, drop them back into the same folder and overwrite. Keep the game closed during the whole operation or the running session overwrites your restore.
can i install someone else's completed save file
Yes. The Unreal slots and collectible state live in those .sav files, so a 100 percent file dropped into SaveGames unlocks everything the same way your own progress would.
