Where Does Freedom Store Blocklists and Sessions?
Freedom blocker blocklists and sessions on the account with local enforcement.
Last updated
Freedom keeps blocklists, schedules, locked mode sessions and device links on the account, enforced locally per device through apps and extensions. Starting a session on one device can lock them all at once.
Locked sessions are the point of no return by design: running during one means waiting it out on every linked device. Reinstalling mid session does not lift the block. The account holds the durable lists; devices hold enforcement state that clears on schedule.
Where Freedom stores this, by platform
App data enforcement state (blocklists and schedules on your account)
Manage lists and recurring schedules on the web dashboard. Local app applies them with admin level filtering. Reinstalling rejoins the account; active sessions continue regardless.
App data enforcement state (same account synced lists)
Same model on Mac with content filter permissions. Locked mode sessions survive reboots and reinstalls by design. Edit lists between sessions, never mid lock.
App-private storage (enforcement; lists on your account)
Accessibility and VPN slot filtering enforce blocks. Deleting the app mid session does not unblock other devices. iOS shares the identical account lists.
Frequently asked questions
does reinstalling Freedom stop a locked session
No. Locked sessions persist server side across reinstalls, reboots and device switches until the timer ends. That resistance is the feature working as sold.
do Freedom blocklists sync across devices
Yes on the same account. Edit lists on the dashboard and every linked device enforces the new version. Sessions can span all devices at once when enabled.
