Where Does FreshRSS Store Config and User Data?
Self-hosted FreshRSS keeps config.php and per-user feeds under its data folder, /var/www/FreshRSS/data in Docker.
Last updated
FreshRSS keeps nearly everything in one data folder. Global config, per-user settings, and the SQLite file if you use it all sit together. That makes migration a file copy rather than a database project.
Container and bare-metal installs differ only in the prefix. Docker maps a host folder to /var/www/FreshRSS/data. Check your compose volumes if the host side differs. MySQL and Postgres users still need a database dump alongside the folder.
Where FreshRSS stores this, by platform
/var/www/FreshRSS/data (inside container)
Container-side path. Holds config.php, users/, cache, and the SQLite file when used. Back up this whole tree.
./data or /opt/freshrss/data (host bind mount)
Common host-side bind mount from compose examples. Same contents as above, reachable on the host.
Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate FreshRSS to a new server?
Copy the whole data folder, especially config.php and the users subfolder. The database holds articles only if you use MySQL or Postgres. SQLite users carry the .sqlite file inside data as well.
Where is the FreshRSS base URL setting?
Open data/config.php. Admin email, base URL, and database choice all live there. Edit while the container is stopped, then start it again.
