Where Does Gatus Store Config and History?

Where Gatus keeps config.yaml, the SQLite database and status data.

Last updated

Gatus splits into config.yaml for endpoints and alerting plus data.db SQLite for status history, both under the data directory you mount. Docker convention points /config at that tree.

The config hot reloads on change in most setups, while the database accumulates history worth backing up. Keep retention settings sane or the database outgrows hobby disks.

Where Gatus stores this, by platform

Linux
<gatus data>/config.yaml

Endpoints YAML plus SQLite history in one data dir. Docker mounts it at /config. Copy both files for migrations. Tune retention to bound database growth.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Gatus?

Copy config.yaml plus data.db to the new data dir. Endpoints and alerting live in the YAML while history lives in SQLite; both halves must travel.

Where does the Gatus config file go in Docker?

Point the volume at /config and place config.yaml inside. The container reads endpoints from that file on boot and writes history beside it.
