Where Does Guild Wars Reforged Store Screenshots and Templates?
Guild Wars Reforged writes screenshots to a Screens folder in its install directory and keeps build templates in Documents\Guild Wars\Templates.
Last updated
Guild Wars Reforged brings back the 2005 original, and its file habits. Progress was never local for this game, since characters live on ArenaNet's servers. The two folders that actually grow with use are screenshots and build templates.
Screenshots go into a Screens folder inside the game's install directory, the same arrangement the classic client used. Build templates, the .txt files that store skillbar loadouts, live in Documents\Guild Wars\Templates, where the original game put them and where the wiki still points. Neither folder is large, so the rule when switching machines is simple: copy both.
Where Guild Wars Reforged stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates
The template folder, holding .txt files for your saved builds. Screenshots are separate: they land in a Screens folder inside the game's install directory. For a classic NCSOFT install that is C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSOFT\Guild Wars\Screens, and a Steam install has the same Screens folder inside the game's folder under steamapps\common.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Guild Wars Reforged screenshots saved?
In a Screens folder next to the game's installation. The classic NCSOFT default is C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSOFT\Guild Wars\Screens. A Steam install uses its own game folder in steamapps\common, but the Screens subfolder works the same way.
Where are Guild Wars build templates stored?
In Documents\Guild Wars\Templates as .txt files. That path dates back to the original game and still works for Reforged, so templates can be copied between machines or moved between the two versions.
Is my character progress stored in these folders?
No. Characters, equipment and progress live on ArenaNet's servers and come back with your account login. Screenshots and templates are the only local items worth backing up.
