Where Is the Iamb Config File?

Iamb keeps its terminal Matrix config in a TOML file under the config home. The config path on Linux and Mac.

Last updated

Iamb is a terminal Matrix client with a single TOML config. On both Linux and Mac it reads config.toml from an iamb folder under the config home. There is no graphical settings screen.

Sessions and cache stay minimal by design. The config carries profiles, keybindings and download choices. Version control that one file and every machine behaves the same.

Where Iamb stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/iamb/config.toml

Single TOML file with profiles, keybindings and download choices. Edit with the client quit. Login sessions reauthenticate on first run after a move.

macOS
~/.config/iamb/config.toml

Same XDG style path on Mac for terminal builds. App bundle variants may relocate it, so a missing file points to a different packaging rather than lost data.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Iamb settings?

Copy config.toml to the same relative path on the new machine. Sessions reauthenticate against the homeserver, so the config carries preferences while login state starts fresh. Keep a backup of any custom keybindings block.

Where do I change Iamb downloads?

Open config.toml in a text editor and check the profile and download sections. The terminal UI exposes little file management, so the config file is the source of truth for paths and behavior.
