Where Does the ING App Store Data?
The ING banking app keeps session, photoTAN state and cached statements in private storage on Android and iOS.
Last updated
ING uses one package across Android and iOS, with databases, preferences and biometric state inside private storage. Root browsers may list the folder name yet still show nothing usable, since the contents stay locked to the app and the device binding. On iOS the same bundle sits under a per install GUID container, which changes with each fresh install.
Every reinstall counts as a new device for photoTAN, even when the phone itself has not changed. Before wiping, export statements as PDF from inside the app and keep a second TAN method ready, because manual folder copies miss the encrypted stores. After setup, re register the device in web banking and approve it with the existing method.
Where ING Deutschland stores this, by platform
/data/data/de.ingdiba.bankingapp
Private databases and prefs for the verified ING package. TAN binding is device bound; copying never transfers it.
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents
GUID container for the same ING bundle ID (App Store ID 1176527145). Re register photoTAN after restore.
Frequently asked questions
Why must I reactivate ING photoTAN after reinstall?
Yes. TAN bindings are device bound. Re register the device in ING web banking and approve with your existing method. A folder copy never transfers the binding.
How do I back up ING statements?
Export statements as PDF from inside the app before wiping or switching phones. Manual copies of private storage miss the encrypted databases and carry no usable session. A PDF export stays readable without the app and covers statements and proofs when the old install is gone.
