Where Does Insta360 Studio Store Projects and Config?

Insta360 Studio keeps its config in AppData\Local\Insta360 on Windows and Application Support insta360 on Mac, with edit projects (.insprj) at the path shown in Preferences, File Path Settings.

Last updated

Insta360 Studio has a fixed config home and a movable project home. The config folder holds the main settings file and logs, and support points you there when the interface breaks. Projects are different: their save path is a preference you can change, so the app itself is the source of truth.

Moving work between computers needs both halves. Transfer the original footage and the project files, keep every path identical, and never rename project files. The app hashes full paths, so a renamed folder silently breaks the link between edits and media.

Where Insta360 Studio stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Insta360\Insta360 Studio

Config and logs. Delete this folder to reset a broken UI, per official support. Find the real project path in Preferences, File Path Settings instead of guessing.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/insta360/Insta360 Studio

Same role as on Windows for config and logs. Moving edits to a new Mac needs footage plus projects with identical paths, reached through the same File Path Settings page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my Insta360 project files?

Open Preferences, File Path Settings, and read the Project Files Save Path. That configurable path is the only reliable address. Alternatively search the drive for insprj with a file search tool. Keep media and project paths identical when moving machines.

Studio opens with a broken layout, how do I reset it?

Delete the Studio config folder for your platform and restart the app. Support documents this exact step for broken layouts: AppData Local Insta360 Insta360 Studio on Windows, Library Application Support insta360 Insta360 Studio on Mac. Projects and media stay untouched.
