Where Are iOS NameDrop Settings Stored?
iOS NameDrop settings and contact sharing location, plus the AirDrop gate behind it.
Last updated
NameDrop trades contact posters by holding iPhones close. It rides on the same proximity system as AirDrop rather than a separate app. Settings live under General and AirDrop.
There is no NameDrop folder with saved cards. Shared posters land in Contacts like any new entry. If nothing triggers, check that both phones are unlocked with Wi Fi and Bluetooth on.
Where iOS stores this, by platform
Settings > General > AirDrop > Bringing Devices Together
Toggle Bringing Devices Together here. AirDrop set to Contacts Only still allows NameDrop prompts. Posters save into Contacts on accept.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn NameDrop on?
Open Settings, General, AirDrop and enable Bringing Devices Together. Hold the top edges of two unlocked iPhones together until the glow appears, then pick Share or Receive Only.
Does NameDrop share my whole contacts?
Use Receive Only in the same AirDrop page. That mode asks before showing your poster. Sharing means the other phone keeps the card you approved.
