Where Does IronFox Store Data on Android?

The IronFox profile sandbox on Android, its nightly variant, and how to back up without root.

Last updated

IronFox took over where Mull left off as the hardened Firefox fork on Android, and it inherits the same sandboxed storage. Everything sits under its own package directory, unreachable without root.

Nightly builds keep a separate sandbox, so stable and nightly never share a profile. Without root, the honest backup route is the app's own export options plus Android's backup, not a file copy.

Where IronFox stores this, by platform

Android
/data/data/org.ironfoxoss.ironfox/

Private sandbox holding the GeckoView profile; root is required to open it. Nightly uses /data/data/org.ironfoxoss.ironfox.nightly/ as a fully separate profile. Without root, use in-app export and Android backup instead.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy my IronFox profile like desktop Firefox?

Not without root. The sandbox at /data/data/org.ironfoxoss.ironfox/ is sealed, so export bookmarks and logins through the app instead of copying files.

Do IronFox stable and nightly share data?

No. Each has its own package sandbox, so settings and logins stay separate. That separation is convenient for testing without risking your daily profile.
