Where Do JetBrains IDEs Store Their Config?

Every JetBrains IDE keeps its settings in one folder per product and per version: keymaps, color schemes, recent projects, window layout, and the plugins you installed. IntelliJ IDEA uses IntelliJIdea2026.2, PyCharm uses PyCharm2026.2, and WebStorm, GoLand, and the rest follow the same pattern with their own product name.
The version in the folder name matters. Config is not shared between releases, so each upgrade starts a fresh folder and leaves the old one behind for you to copy from. The quickest way to see the exact path on your machine is Help > Diagnostic Tools > Special Files and Folders, which lists config, plugins, system, and log directories and can open any of them in your file manager.

Example: %APPDATA%\JetBrains\IntelliJIdea2026.2. Installed plugins sit in the plugins subfolder of this directory. System files, caches, and logs are separate, under %LOCALAPPDATA%\JetBrains\<Product><Version>.
~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/<Product><Version>
Plugins live in the plugins subfolder inside this directory, and caches and logs are in ~/Library/Caches/JetBrains and ~/Library/Logs/JetBrains with the same product and version name. Versions before 2020.1 used ~/Library/Preferences instead, so old leftovers may still sit there.
~/.config/JetBrains/<Product><Version>
Plugins are not in this folder on Linux. They default to ~/.local/share/JetBrains/<Product><Version>/plugins, while caches and logs live under ~/.cache/JetBrains. If XDG_CONFIG_HOME is set in your environment, config follows that instead of ~/.config.
