Where Does Keka Store Preferences?
Keka keeps prefs in its sandboxed container with a legacy Library path. Reset and helper notes for Mac.
Last updated
Keka stores preferences in its App Store sandbox container. The live file sits deep under Library/Containers/com.aone.keka in a Preferences plist the maintainer asks users to share for troubleshooting. Older non-sandboxed installs used the plain Library Preferences path instead.
Resetting means deleting the container folder with Keka closed. A helper app for default-app duties reinstalls itself on demand, so removing it causes no lasting harm. Archives themselves live wherever you saved them, never inside these folders.
Where Keka stores this, by platform
~/Library/Containers/com.aone.keka/Data/Library/Preferences/com.aone.keka.plist
Current sandboxed prefs; zip this file when reporting bugs per maintainer docs. Legacy installs used ~/Library/Preferences/com.aone.keka.plist instead. Delete the whole container folder for a full reset with Keka closed.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset Keka settings?
Quit Keka and delete the Library Containers com.aone.keka folder. The app rebuilds defaults on next launch. Archives and extraction history outside prefs stay untouched by the reset.
What is the KekaExternalHelper app?
A helper for set-as-default duties living in Application Support inside the container. Deleting it is safe; Keka reinstalls it when needed. It never holds archives or settings worth backing up.
Where are my Keka archives?
Wherever extraction or compression placed them, usually beside sources or a chosen folder. Preferences folders hold options only. Search Finder by date when an archive lands somewhere unexpected.
