Where Is the komorebi Config File?
komorebi reads %USERPROFILE%\komorebi.json on Windows, with runtime state under %LOCALAPPDATA%\komorebi and overrides via env var.

komorebi looks in exactly one default place: komorebi.json in your Windows user profile folder. No AppData, no ProgramData. The sample configs generated by komorebic quickstart land there too.
Runtime state is the part that follows Windows convention, under %LOCALAPPDATA%\komorebi. Keep the two apart in your head: the JSON in your profile is what you edit and back up, the LocalAppData directory is what komorebi writes while running.
Where komorebi stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\komorebi.json
Default location unless KOMOREBI_CONFIG_HOME is set or --config passes another file. The bar config (komorebi.bar.json) and applications.json sit beside it. Hot-reloads on save.
Frequently asked questions
How do I confirm which config path my komorebi uses?
Run komorebic configuration and komorebic data-directory. They print the exact paths your running build uses, which settles any doubt about env overrides or custom flags.
Can I keep komorebi files somewhere other than my home folder?
Set KOMOREBI_CONFIG_HOME to the directory you want, move your JSON files there, and update app_specific_configuration_path inside komorebi.json to match. komorebic quickstart scaffolds fresh files in the new home.
