Where Does LightBurn Store Preferences?

LightBurn prefs.ini folder on Windows, the automatic backup directory, and the supported migration path.

Last updated

LightBurn stores every device profile, window layout tweak and global setting in a single prefs.ini file. The folder also keeps a rolling set of automatic backups, capped at the latest 50, which is the fastest recovery route after a bad edit.

The supported way to reach the folder is inside the app: File, Preferences, then Open Prefs Folder. Always quit LightBurn before copying or deleting anything there, because the app overwrites prefs.ini on exit and silently discards changes made while it runs.

Where LightBurn stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\LightBurn

Contains prefs.ini, prefs.old and a backup subfolder. Your material and art libraries (.clb and .lbart files) live wherever you saved them, not here, so back those up separately.
